Trees added to new library landscaping

Updated: Dec 16, 2019

A look at one of the 70+ trees that will eventually be planted at the new library.

Landscaping work is underway at the new Geneva Public Library at 227 S. Seventh St. Several trees have been planted in parking lot islands; the landscaping plan calls for more than 70 trees to be planted on the site.

Crews have poured concrete for the parking lot and installed permeable pavers and sidewalks. In addition, crews are working on the interior of the new library, painting walls, installing carpeting, and more.

After consulting with their building team, Library officials hope that construction will be completed after the beginning of the year. The opening day will be determined at a later date.

The start date for installation will be determined later. You can view plans for the new park here: https://www.genevaparks.org/_pdf/Library-Park-2020.pdf

WILL THE LIBRARY BE CLOSED DURING THE MOVE TO THE NEW LIBRARY? We will close, but dates are not yet set for our move or opening day. We’ll post updates to gpld.org and our Facebook Page as we know more.
