February 2020: Flooring, carpeting, painting and more occurs inside the new library.

January 2020: With the parking lot completed, and some landscaping in place, crews focus on the interior work.

December 2019: Crews begin planting trees, and work continues on the parking lot. There is also considerable work occurring inside the library.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

November 2019: The sidewalk goes in along Campbell Street, and grading continues for the parking lot. Interior work also continues, moving from the third floor down including installing ceilings and drywall, painting, etc.

October 2019: Site work begins, including grading for sidewalks and the parking lot

September 2019: Terracotta installation is mostly complete on the south side of the building (facing Franklin Street) and has been completed on the north side of the building (Campbell Street). Geneva Park District settles on a plan for the mini-park to be located at Sixth and Franklin. After consulting with their building team, Library officials update the new building timeline and hope that construction will be completed after the beginning of the year. The opening day will be determined at a later date.

August 2019: Terracotta installation continues. Additional work includes grading the site to prepare for the parking lot, installing the grand staircase in the lobby, and adding drywall on the second and third levels

July 2019: Terracotta siding starts to go up

June 2019: Porch railings, windows, insulation, and more are installed

May 2019: Exterior walls get rain screen and insulation layers; workers begin to add windows and walls
April 2019: Crews frame interior walls, and install floors, stairways, and elevators
March 2019: Interior work begins, including installing elevators, stairwells, and walls
February 2019: Crews begin to put up walls the the roof
January 2019: Exterior walls go up, and plumbing work begins
December 2018: Workers continue to lay steel and begin detailing and pouring concrete for floors
November 2018: Second bond issue of $12 million; the Library has received all $21.8 million in public financing for the project. Work begins on the geothermal well; second floor takes shape
October 2018: Steel work begins; basement and foundation work is completed
September 2018: Walls begin to go up on the new library; basement and first floor work starts
August 2018: Library breaks ground! Work begins on the site
